This guide walks you through building a drip campaign from scratch: naming it, choosing when it starts, adding steps, and activating it.
Before you start: Email steps use the templates already saved on your account. Create the emails you want to send in Templates first, so they're ready to pick while you build.
Step 1: Create the campaign
Go to Drip Campaigns in the sidebar and click New campaign.
In the New drip campaign window, fill in:
Campaign name: something you'll recognize later, like "2026 AEP Client Update."
Description: a short note about what the campaign is for.
When does it start?
When a client is enrolled: the journey begins as soon as the client is added.
On a specific date: everyone starts on the same day. This is the one to use for AEP and other calendar windows.
Send time: the time of day your campaign emails go out.
If you'd like a head start, check Start from the AEP example journey to begin with the example journey instead of a blank one.
Click Continue.
About send time: If your journey starts with an email and no wait before it, that first email sends right away. The send time applies to the emails after it.
Step 2: Get to know the campaign editor
Your new campaign opens as a Draft. Changes save automatically as you work, and you can rename the campaign anytime with the pencil icon next to its name.
The summary bar at the top updates as you build:
Starts: the start date and send time.
Emails: the most emails a single client can receive.
Longest path: the date a client would finish if they stay on the longest path through your journey.
The first card in the journey is the Start step. To change how or when the campaign starts, click Edit on that card. If you choose On a specific date, pick your Start date there.
Step 3: Add steps to your journey
Click + Add another step under any step to open the What should happen next? menu.
Steps run from top to bottom, and each one starts when the step above it finishes. For example, if you add Wait 5 days followed by a condition check, the check runs at the 5-day mark.
To remove a step, click its trash can icon. When you're finished editing a step, click Done.
Send email
Choose Send email, then pick a template from the Email template dropdown. The step shows Needs a template until you choose one, then changes to Ready.
Click Preview template to double-check the email before moving on.
Wait
Choose Wait to pause the journey for a set number of days or weeks. The card shows the date the next step will run.
Check a condition
Choose Check a condition to split clients onto a Yes or No path based on what they've done.
In Check, choose what to look for, such as Intake Form completed.
In Email to check, choose the email the check should look at. For Intake Form completed, this is the email that contained the form, so the check looks at whether the client completed the Intake Form from that email.
Then set up what happens on each path:
Yes (Goal completed): the client did what you were checking for, and their journey ends.
No (Still waiting): the client hasn't done it yet. The steps you add under the condition run for these clients.
To edit a path, click its card. The path you're working on is marked Editing this path. With No selected, click + Add follow-up step to add what should happen next, like sending a reminder email.
Tip: A condition checks once, at the moment the client reaches it. To give clients time to act, put a Wait step before the check.
Example journey:
Send email: Policy Now Active (includes the Intake Form)
Wait: 5 days
Check a condition: Intake Form completed from the Policy Now Active email
Yes: the journey ends.
No: send the Policy Now Active email again as a reminder.
Add tag
Choose Add tag to update the client's CRM tags at this point in the journey. Pick an existing tag, or create a new one right from the step.
End campaign
Choose End campaign to stop the journey at that point. The client won't receive anything after this step.
Step 4: Enroll clients
You can enroll clients while your campaign is still a draft. Open the campaign's Stats tab and click Enroll clients, or add clients in bulk from the Reports page.
Step 5: Review and activate
When your journey is ready, click Review & activate at the top of the campaign.
Archiving or deleting a campaign
Both options are at the top of the campaign editor. They work very differently, so pick carefully.
Archive campaign stops the campaign from running and blocks new enrollments. Clients already in the campaign stay enrolled, and their progress and history are kept. They aren't counted as Removed.
Heads up: Archived campaigns can't currently be restored in the app.
Delete campaign permanently deletes the campaign, its enrollments, and its step history. Your clients stay in your CRM; only their campaign records are deleted.
